A regional project funded by the European Union. It aims to increase the use of Energy Efficiency measures and Renewable Energy systems in buildings in southern and eastern Mediterranean countries. Apart from policy advice and business development, special emphasis is placed on the support of large building programmes as multipliers of climate friendly and cost-saving technologies and measures.

The recent publication of the EU-MED-ENEC Project on Financing Energy Efficiency in the Building Sector is now available online. This is the 9th of MED-ENEC’s series of publications on energy efficiency issues. This brochure addresses the importance of financing investments in energy efficiency and highlights various experiences on the regional and international levels.

The League of Arab States' Energy Department Announces a Competition for the Best Arab Energy Efficiency Project on the Occasion of the Third Arab Energy Efficiency Day
On the occasion of the Arab Energy Efficiency Day, which is celebrated on the 21st of May every year. The League of Arab States' Energy Department announced a competition for selecting the "Best Arab Energy Efficiency Project".
For the fifth year in row, MED-ENEC participated in the 5th edition of the Beirut Energy Forum that took place on 17-19 September, 2014 at the Le Royale Hotel, Dbayeh, Lebanon. MED-ENEC contributed to the forum proceedings with 2 presentations on “Measures of the EU to implement Energy Efficiency and Lessons learnt from experience with the EU Renewable Energy Directive” and “Financing Energy Investments in the MENA Region: Prospects, Risks, and Potential”.
Within the framework of the cooperation between the EU funded MED-ENEC Project and the Housing Department of the League of Arab States (LAS), MED-ENEC organized a regional workshop titled “Energy Efficiency Building Code – Enforcement and Evaluation” on 15 September, 2014 at Semiramis Intercontinental Hotel in Cairo, Egypt.
